BEAUTIFY YOUR ENVELOPE - DECORATIVE ENVELOPE LININGS
sample project

Adding a decorative liner to the inside of your envelope is one of the quickest way to add a really nice touch to your greeting. This method will work with nearly any envelope. It allows you to make two A2 liners from one sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" paper, but any size envelope can be lined using these instructions. I use plain copy paper often because of my decorative and colored papers are cardstock, which is too thick. If you use pattered paper, you can make your envelope and card look like a matched set by adding a bit of the same paper to the front of your card, even if it's only a strip or small die cut.

Step 1

Step 1 - Line your envelope onto the paper.

Lay your paper down in a landscape orientation; long side on the top and bottom. You want your liner to be a little smaller than the open envelope.Place the bottom of the envelope 5/8" below the edge of the paper and the left edge 1/4" beyond the side edge.

Step 2 - Use a pencil to trace around the envelope.

Step 2

Step 3

Step 3 - Draw one extra line.

You'll actually want to shave an additional 1/4" off the liner on the right side, so draw a line 1/4" inside the right line you traced.

Step 4 - Cut out the liner

Step 5 - fit the liner inside the envelope and pus it all the way to the bottom and fold the flap down, creasing the liner.

Step 5

Step 6

Step 6 - Remove and Decorate.

You don't need to decorate the portion that will be hidden inside the envelope. Deocrate the top half any way you like. we used the bubbles Bling Surround stamp and filled in the center with waterfall Stickles.

Step 7 - Replace the liner inside the envelope and adhere to the top flap with double sided tape or glue. Do not adhere below the fold or the fold will warp when you close the envelope.

That's it!
