Micro Marble Essential Information

Micro Marbles come in clear, semitransparent colored glass, black glass and a variety of metallic colors. Available sizes are .5mm, 1mm and 2mm. Different sizes produce much differnt results. The .5mm size is the most common and what we use in most of our examples.

Micro Marbles can be used in artwork much the same way as glitter, but provide a unique and sophisticated look.

Tips for using Micro Marbles

* Always work in a box or tray. Spilled Micro Marbles are nearly impossible to save and they will roll off a single sheet of paper. Tidy Tray offers a tray with a funnel built in.

* You'll get tighter coverage if you pour the marbles directly over all parts of your sticky area, rather than trying to roll them around to cover the surface.

* With rough handling, Metallic Marbles can crumble after being adhered to artwork.

* Some double-sided tapes hold Micro Marbles better than thers.

* If using Micro Marbles with a plastic funnel or tray, wipe down plastic with an antistatic dryer sheet to keep marbles from sticking with static electricity. You can also tear off a small piece of dryer sheet and drop it into a big if marbles are clinging to the side of it. Close the bag and shake until none of the marbles are clinging to bag.

* If you want to try your hand at making mixtures of different colored Micro Marbles, start with small amounts. A 1/4 teaspoon of Micro Marbles goes a long way. * If you use a Xyron device to layer card stock, this should be done after working with Micro arbles. Xyron will leave just enough glue residue at the edges of card stock to make working with embossing powders or Micro Marbles frustrating.

* Using heat activated Sticky Powder to cover a stamped image with Micro Marbles works best with thick-lined, bold images.
