Mailing through USPS:For mailing, USPS technically requires that the opening be the longer of the two numbers, but we have had no reports of problems using these for first class mailings. Problems may occur if attempting to make at bulk rates. These clear envelopes, so long as the flap is on the long side of the mail-piece, are approved by USPS for mailing up to 13 ounces through first-class mail, or up to 20 ounces for periodicals and bound printed matter. Be sure to use self-adhesive postage stamps. You can affix a mailing label to the outside or slide the mailing address on a peice of paper inside the envelope to viewed through the plastic. These are considered non-machinable and have to be hand-canceled. No specific notation is needed on the outside of the envelope but add 20¢ extra postage in addition to a regular letter postage. This extra charge does not apply if the weight is over 1 ounce, then regular postage rates include the non-machinable surcharge. Archival Safe:These are made from 100% virgin polypropylene which is naturally acid and lignin-free.
These are "museum quality" archival-safe products.
