Stamp an image in a slow drying ink like embossing ink or pigment ink. Sprinkle embossing powder over the image so that it sticks to the wet ink. Tap off the excess and return it to the jar. Heat the powder into a liquid enamel with a heat tool and let it cool. For embossing images with a lot of detail, use a superfine embossing powder. The most popular colors are available in much larger contains for a substantial savings if you use a lot of this. Use a fine brush to sweep away excess grains, taking care not to brush the powder off the intended areas. If there are a lot of stray grains it may be because the paper was handled a lot and there are a lot of body oils on the paper. If this is an ongoing problem try treating paper with an anti-static bag or wiping cornstarch over the paper and wiping it off with a tissue before stamping the image you plan to emboss.
