Matching Up Nestabilities Dies with Stamped Images

Getting your die perfectly lined up with your stamped image isn't going to help if your die slips as it's going through the die cut machine. Some people recommend taping, with masking-tape, multiple dies to the top of spacer boards in order to keep them from slipping and damaging each other. This works well if you don't need the dies to cut at a specified place on the paper. Except now the tape has been cut by the dies and die cut machine can even low-tack tape pretty tacky with that much pressure.

I haven't found a hardware type masking tape that is low tack enough that you can tape it to your paper and run it through a die-cutting machine without risking it damaging the paper when you pull it off. PostIt Tape on the other hand is perfect. The compression does make it stick pretty well, enough that you can shuffle your dies around to run them through again with an embossing mat, but not so strongly that it could possible damage your paper. Sometimes when you pull the tape off you can feel some slight residue from the tape but it rolls right off with your thumb. Another plus is that by doing it the way shown in this image, the tape is not cut, so you can use it again and again.

Still, do take care when making your die-cutting "sandwich" not to let the dies slip. If they do slip they will get damaged and not cut properly after that. I've done this technique dozens and dozens of times and never damaged a die, but I take care to really press that PostIt tape down between dies.
