"Study of a Crane"
ATC featuring game tiles
by Leigh S-B
THE SHARPIE DOMINO QUEEN

I love designing unique and original art that I can embellish with various altered game tiles, especially when the tiles are made from the same material as a domino. The focal point of this ATC is the two 'Pairs in Pears' tiles I altered in my 'Sharpie Domino Queen' style which is a domino technique I pioneered in 2002 using Sharpies.
Photo submitted by Leigh Snaith-Brunton

For the ATC I used a Blockhead rubber stamp of an Asian circle design in two sizes stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink and coloured with Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils. I added Sparkle glitter to the flowers. The tag is a Tim Holtz Grungeboard label tag stained with Azurite Colorbox Fluid Chalk pigment ink and the dots tinted with a touch of black then edged in gold. I added the Chinese charm for Long Life and the 'Crane' dymo label and attached the tag to the ATC with gold brads. For the game tiles I stamped portions of the Blockheads Crane rubber stamp in Ancient Page dye ink and coloured the cranes with Blue Ocean, Ice, Blueberry, Pomegranate and Flamingo Sharpies and Copic markers. Details added with metallic paint pens in silver and gold and sealed with Judikins Diamond Glaze for a glass-like finish. I adhered the tiles to the ATC with glue dots and finished my design with a gold dragonfly charm. I bent the wings of the dragonfly up for more dimension and adhered it to the game tile with a dab of Diamond Glaze.
