Hi. My name is Karen McAlpine. I have been crafting since childhood. I still have the bean bag frog I made in vacation bible school at the age of four. I became interested in paper arts at the age of 11 and thus started my decoupage journey. I would decoupage anything that didn’t move. And, I loved paper toll. I have a pretty extensive history working with fabrics too. I have made and designed quilts. And, I have been sewing garments since junior high. I started making cards on the computer about eleven years ago and I did that for years and years. I was always pleased to see how thrilled people were when they saw it was custom made. I drifted into making cards “by hand” about six years ago. My love affair with stamps began in earnest about four years ago when my best friend moved out of state. I really missed her and felt a connection to her by making cards for her. So, from that point, things just snowballed. And now I make cards daily. I just enjoy the creative outlet of making little works of art. I also enjoy crochet, quilting, and gardening. I love my herb and flower garden. My alter ego…I have a bachelors degree in Business Management from The University of Michigan. So, yes, I am an accounting geek. I work part time at home doing the accounting thing too. I have a very nice husband, Don, who encourages all my creative endeavors. He is very creative himself and is a fabulous musician. We have been married for 26 years. So, now you have a little snapshot of me. I hope you will enjoy the new Design Team’s creations.
