I love designing unique and original art featuring various game tile pieces especially when they're made from the same material as dominoes ;-) I designed and constructed this Oriental Trinket Box from 6 Rummy-O game tiles. I altered them in my 'Sharpie Domino Queen' style which is a 'domino technique' I pioneered in 2002 using Sharpies.
I stamped portions of a Blockheads long border Nature scene in Ancient Page dye ink onto each game tile and coloured them with Blue Ocean, Surf, Pomegranate and Flamingo Sharpies. Photo submitted by Leigh Snaith-Brunton
I added a touch of sparkle to the flower centers with an extra fine point silver paint pen then edged the tiles with a gold metallic paint pen. I sealed all 6 tiles with Judikins Diamond Glaze for a glass-like finish. Before the glaze dried I adhered clear Swarovski crystals to the side tiles and a gold painted wooden ball to the lid. Next I lined all the backs of the tiles with origami paper before assembling the box. I then created a lip for the lid from a couple of layers of thick cardstock glued together and coloured it gold with the paint pen. Finally I adhered the lip to the interior of the box lid which keeps the lid securely in place. www.VelvetPawCreations.com www.LeighSBDesigns.blogspot.com
