Distress Stain ButterfliesDistress Stain Butterflies

Author : Stacey Dunning

This card uses the large butterfly and butterfly medallion from our nature medallions stamp set.  My favorite technique using distress stains is blending the colors on my stamp and stamping.  That is how I got the various colors on the butterfly stamped images.  Other colors will contaminate the tip temporarily but because distress inks are slow drying and the tip is synthetic fiber just set the dabber upright so it won't bring more color from the bottle and blot off the mixed color with a paper towel.  Your dabber will be good as new!  I used the lightly spritzed example in the image to stamp the butterfly medallion in black and embossed it in superfine black.  I used the lighter splat version for the background, adding a little more color around the edges and darkening the edge with a versamagic jumbo java dew drop.
