This card was created using the two larger stamps from the Seascape - Fish stamp set. The background was created using Distress Stains in : peeled paint, faded jeans and broken china. I created a mask using the 6" wide roll of eclipse masking tape. I tore off two peices a little larger than the wave stamp and placed them on top of each other. I stamped the top sheet as a guide for cutting out both. I needed two masks for this background. I stamped the wave on glossy cardstock in the lower right corner using Ranger Inkssentials Watermark (formerly called clear resist). It is clear so I had to have good light to apply the mask over that stamped image in the right place. After masking the first image I stamped a second image to the left and masked that as well. I stamped a 3rd image in the center, above the other two and removed the masks.
After stamping my resist images I randomly swiped Distress Stains over the cardstock until it was covered. Areas where the ink pooled left a darker color than other areas. If you wish to avoid this, just wipe off the pooled areas using a paper towel between each color application.
The fish tile was much easier than the background. Distress Stains appear much darker on plain matte cardstock than they do coated or glossy papers. For this reason, I stamped the fish tile on matte cardstock so I could get the vibrant colors. I stamped in versacolor black pigment ink and embossed the image using superfine black embossing powder. I then just used Distress Stains in brick red, peeled paint, broken china and wild honey to color the exposed white cardstock and used scissors to trim around the image. I applied it to the background using double-sided tape and added organza ribbon and dew drops as embellishments before matting the entire card on a black cardstock.
