When cutting the cover of your pages, start with the stop guide
in position C. Butt your coverstock up against the guide and
make your first punch.
For
the second punch move the stop guide to position A. You'll see
a little tab on the stop guide facing the back of the machine.
This is called the stop tab and is designed to fit inside the
second to the left-most hole punched in the previous step.
Once
you line that up, you can move the stop guide to position B
to hold the page in place while making another punch. Continue
with those steps until the last punch is to be made. For the
last punch, you want to take care not to punch too closely to
the edge so you may choose to line stop tab with a hole further
to the right.
The above instructions are also good for the inside pages if
the pages are cut the same size as the cover stock. When
creating a booklet where the cover is cut 1/4" larger in
width and height (1/8" all around) you can use stop guide
position D as the starting point for cutting the pages. The
rest of the steps for finishing off the pages are the same as
punching the cover stock.
If
you're cutting an item that is less than 4" wide, you will
want to create a guide for yourself once you decide where the
best location to punch is. Sometimes you can just match the
center of the item with the arrow in the center of the punch.
Sometimes, however you need to move it a little to the left
or right to make the holes line up at the edges ok. Once you
know where you want to put the pages. use a piece of masking
tape to help line up the other pages. This image shows good
positioning for the 3.5" square coasters. For the 4"
square coasters, you can simply use position C on the stop guide
for all your pages.
